James (Jim) M. Smith
March 11, 1950 - May 7, 2008
James (Jim) M. Smith was a servant leader among all. His quiet nature, unassuming demeanor, and his peaceful disposition masked the giant in his diminutive statue. His graceful nature, helpful spirit, giving heart, and uncompromising wisdom only added to lives of those of us who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Jim, a family man, a Christian, a champion of cultural diversity, was a willing spirit who helped victims in his own community with tree removal, debris cleanup, roofing shingles replacement, and more after the hurricanes in Florida (2004). Jim’s efforts extended to assisting victims of hurricane Katrina (2005). On several different occasions he loaded his Ford van with water, equipment and other supplies, and travel alone to Louisiana to lend assistance.
Jim was retired from Sprint Telephone Company. He served in the United States Marine Corp. in the Vietnam era. He loved fishing, four wheeling, and working.
For us at Orange Realty Masters, Jim provided ninety percent of equipment for our “Gift of Strings” program. He would often say, “I found this guitar at the flea market.” or “I got this guitar with purchase of other sound equipment.” or "Here's another one, can you use it?"
Jim departed this world suddenly following a catastrophic health failure. We wish him well on his journey. He will be sorely missed.
